The Buena Park Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of the cultural legacy of Buena Park. The society's website is home to an amazing online archive, and includes historic photographs and descriptions of two of Buena Park's oldest homes. All the photos may be viewed individually, or through the online storybook feature, a detailed account of Buena Park's history.
The Whitaker-Jaynes Estate was built by James Whitaker, a cattle rancher and founder of Buena Park, in the late 19th century. The Bacon House was built in 1884, and was originally a squatter home. Both houses are furnished with antiques, and are open to the public. The homes can even be viewed online through a virtual tour. Education tours are geared towards the third grade local history content standard. Explore these fascinating photographs and homes at www.historicalsociety.org.
