Heritage House and the Fullerton Arboretum
The restored Victorian Heritage House was once the home of Dr. George Cook Clark. The home was both a residence and medical office, and has been restored to reflect the styles of the late 19th century. Some original furnishings, as well as family memorabilia, are on display in the house. The house, as well as the surrounding buildings and landscape, depict the Victorian lifestyle. Tours of the house support the third grade local history standard.
The house is located in the center of the Fullerton Arboretum, on the grounds of the California State University, Fullerton campus. Although the Arboretum is not necessarily a primary source location, the school tours that are provided support the third grade sciences and investigation standards. By combining tours of both the Arboretum and Heritage House, students receive a more holistic understanding of the curriculum. This is a very unique way to use primary sources to support other subjects, such as science.
