The Mother Colony House
The Mother Colony House is one of the oldest homes in Anaheim, and the oldest wood-framed home in Orange County. The home was built in 1857, and was moved from its original location to what is now known as Founder's Park in Anaheim's Colony District. The home was built by George Hansen, a German colonist who helped establish the city of Anaheim, and who is known as the "Father of Anaheim". The home is also Orange County's oldest museum, and has been supervised by the Anaheim public library for the past fifty years. The home is filled with antique furniture, artifacts and mementos. Guests can walk through the three rooms of the home, or visit the other attractions at Founder's Park. In this image, the Mother Colony House is dedicated as a State Historical Landmark.
