How to Use This Site
This website was designed specifically for teachers, to aid them in their search for local primary resources. Locations were chosen with teachers in mind, so that teachers may find repositories near their school districts. Many of these sites were chosen because they support the California teaching standards. Here are some great ways to begin your search:
- Check out the map link. All locations have been marked on the map, so that teachers may find locations according to region or school district. A school district map has also been provided.
- Search for locations by School District. Locations were chosen based on more densely populated school districts. Some districts have not been listed because they have been incorporated into larger districts. For example, Centralia school districted is unlisted, but teachers may search for local resources under the Buena Park district.
- Visit the blog. Here you will find updates on new primary source locations, as well as first-hand descriptions of location visits. This is a great place to visit with other local teachers and share your experiences. Discussion and feedback are welcomed and encouraged here.
- View the Digital Primary Source Collections. For those who are unable to take their class to physically visit a location, the materials in these collections are a wonderful way to still bring primary resources to the classroom.
